4 routes in 1, the most famous and demanding passes of the Alps, in 1 single and incomparable challenge.
4 routes in a NON COMPETITIVE event, 1 single and unique challenge against yourself.
4 routes to test your limits and abilities.
4 routes around Bormio, the heart of this extreme…event.
You start from Bormio on Saturday June 18th (start at will between 5 and 6 a.m.) and head straight to the Mortirolo pass (from the tougher mountainside of Mazzo). You remount the Valcamonica and from Ponte di Legno you begin the long and rough climb of the Gavia pass. You then descent to Bormio, where the first refreshment stand will be prepared. From here you set out to the Stelvio pass. Three km before the peak you turn towards the Umbrail pass and cycle down on the Swiss side. Passing through St. Maria Müstair and Glorenza you reach Prato allo Stelvio, from where you climb towards the Stelvio pass at 2.758 metres height. After 22 km of downhill you again reach Bormio and the second refreshment stand (with warm meals and a rest place). For who wants to go on can now take the 3rd route (Bormio - S. Caterina Valfurva - Passo Gavia - Ponte di Legno – Monno) with the ascend to the Mortirolo pass. Hereafter you face the steep descent to Grosio and back to Bormio. Just a few hours rest before the start of the last tour. From Bormio towards Tirano, 40 km of easy descend and then… the “final attack”. From Tirano to Switzerland over the Bernina pass. 3 km before the summit you turn right to Livigno crossing the Forcola pass. In Livigno you take the state road 301 that brings you back to Bormio, the longed for final destination after having approached further 2 passes: Eira 2.209 metres and Foscagno 2.291 metres.
All the cyclers that reach the final destination gain the “ALPINE chamois certificate – VALTELLINA EXTRÊME”, desirable award in the cyclers world: 467 km and 12.999 metres height difference.
